When I'm engaged in a debate with a crazy person I like to sit back and let them have the stage because, eventually, they'll end up burying themselves in the argument. Here is a prime example of how this works. Apparently, no one has shown Rush any statistics on heart disease and diabetes.
Thanks to Debbie for the head's up on this. Limbaugh isn't generally on my reading list for health news.
And in case you need a counterpoint, here are a few obesity epidemic stats. Maybe Rush needs to chip in and tell us how it's all really Colorado's fault.
Fat Stats
This is so perverse that it's even hard to find it funny. What a nut.
ReplyDeleteI think the headliner is written incorrectly. Shouldn't it read....Exercise: Limbaugh to Blame for Health Care Problems Among Other Things.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fool.... and a poster child for health related issues-NOT! I will agree with him on one count, people who exercise risk injury, and therefore get injured. I am confident that our health care problems of people with disease and illness FAR out number the injured! why not cure illness and disease.. then all of the injured will not clog up the health care system! I suppose being addicted to pain medication and entered a rehabilitation program. along with "doctor shopping" is not on the list for causing any problems in the Hwalth Care system. just my thoughts... nice work Limbaugh....
ReplyDeleteMy mom always says the same thing.
ReplyDeletewhat a total (fat) tool.

ReplyDeleteApparently, out-of-work, uninsured people have more time for sports and other injury-inducing activities than the insured upper/middle class.
The pieces of the puzzle are all coming together now. Thanks, Rush!
No shock that this ignorance and lazy perspective lead Rush Limbaugh to his addiction to pain killers. I just hope the people who have affinity for him don't sacrifice the quality of their lives the way he has chosen to sacrifice his.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in my health and health care costs and that's why I will no longer be doing any more exercise. It's too dangerous and I want to do my part to keep health costs down. I went to the urgent care twice this year for x-rays on potentially broken bones. If I wasn't trying to jump my bike I would have never gotten hurt. I apologize to all of you for being such a burden.
ReplyDeleteRush forgot painkiller addiction. Oh wait, that's him.
ReplyDeleteThat's enough for me. I'm convinced.
ReplyDeleteSo Rush isnt correct on his health news...I concede the point...but his politics for 20 years..spot on. Its a shame to see Carl Daikeler wade in on this topic since Rush has lost 45 lbs in the last year..I think Carl would appreciate a solider in his fight to eliminate obesity in the world. Its better to make friends than enemies.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sad state when our country is looking to comedy for its politics. Rush's show is a registered comedy show. He's not serious. I'm sure he has some convictions in his mind but, mainly, his point is to get a rise out of people and make money. His show is a take off of the Wally George show that ran successfully on cable access in Orange County for years. Limbaugh took the gig nationally and has become quite the star. Now I used to love Wally George. It was fun watching him eject liberals, commies, feminists, and hippies from a set decorated with pics or Reagan, John Wayne, and the space shuttle. He even threw 'Jesus Christ' off his show! But I don't think, in serious discourse, that evaluating him as a serious policy maker ever crossed my mind. That would be like hiring the professor from Gilligan's Island to do the science on our test groups.
ReplyDeleteIts even more sad when you prop "media matters" group up on a health blog. Talk about Gilligan's island, the professor, and science. Accuracy in the media, of which media matters is no part of is equivalent to Gilligan being an expert helmsman and sailor.
ReplyDeleteI love your health and nutrition segments and I very much respect you but when politics and government come into the fray, I have to respond. I spent 5 years on capital hill working in and around politicians and what you read about in the major media for the most part isn't close to the truth and THAT is the real shame.
I hope our health news doesn't become politicized which I fear is happening!
Trust me, I'm not saying our politicians are doing a bang up job. There's a reason why comedy shows like Rush and Jon Stewart are being chosen over regular network news. We just elected a comedian fer crissakes. And, who knows, maybe they'll do a better job.
ReplyDeleteI rarely nitpick Rush (never until now). I just couldn't leave this little rant alone. For guys my business this is hanging curve ball. We've got take a swing.
Gotcha, and thank for walking back off the absurbity plank.
ReplyDeleteIm not sure elected is the right word for Franken being in the Senate, but I understand your point.
Since you like curve balls and in the words of the most funny comedian ever, Dennis Miller, usually Rush, at least on politics is throwing those infamous Federnado Valenzuela screwgies that bite in on the left-handed batters causing them to hit off the hands!
And for Limbaugh fans...i hear the chorus now...Come on Rush "BRING IT", P90x is waiting for you!
